Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.

At La Perouse Public School we currently have the following options available.

  • Anglican Christian SRE is provided by volunteers from St Mark's Malabar, who are authorised and trained by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, an approved SRE provider
  • Special Ethics Education is taught by Graeme Petrie and trained by Primary Ethics.  We are looking for more volunteers who are willing to complete the Special Ethics Education training in order to teach lessons at our school. Please let us know if you are interested.
  • Aboriginal Dreaming is taught by our Aboriginal Education Officers and School Learning Support Officers.
